The Community Foundation’s 100 Who Give event is July 29
The Southern New Mexico Community Foundation (CFSNM) 100 Who Give Founders Circle will be hosting an outdoor fundraiser from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 29 at CFSNM, 2600 El Paseo Road.
During the event, there will be a gift of Kona Ice to anyone who stops by to donate, the CFSNM said in a press release.
Along with Hispanic Leaders in Philanthropy and the Boomerang Philanthropists group, 100 Who Give Las Cruces is one of three donation circles organized by the nonprofit CFSNM.
“100 Who Give Las Cruces is an opportunity for anyone to give back to the organizations that make southern New Mexico a great place to live,” the press release said. “The concept is that 100 people donate $ 100 to collectively raise $ 10,000 for a charity or cause in the community. The beneficiary is chosen by those who have made a donation, through a system of nomination and voting.
In 2019, 100 Who Give Las Cruces was created by Tamara Ahner, Diane Calhoun, Terra Winter, Chriss Martinez and Ann Woodling. It will celebrate its second anniversary with an in-person donation event on Thursday, September 30 at Icebox Brewing Company, 2825 W. Picacho Ave.
Nonprofits that have received funding from 100 Who Give include Casa de Peregrinos, Catholic Charities, Aggie Cupboard, Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces, La Casa, Inc. Domestic Violence Program and Soroptimists International of Las Cruces (SILC).
“SILC was delighted to receive funding from the 100 Who Give event and CFSNM,” said SILC President Esther Devall. “We are part of a global organization of volunteers that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to become economically empowered. The funds we have received will be used to help fund one of our flagship programs, the Live Your Dream Awards. This is a one-time education award for women who provide the primary financial support to their families. It gives women the resources they need to improve their education, skills and job prospects. Almost all of the women who receive the Live Your Dream award have overcome huge obstacles, including poverty, teenage pregnancy, drug addiction, homelessness and domestic violence. Recipients can use the cash reward to offset any costs associated with their efforts to achieve higher education, such as books, tuition, child care, and transportation.
“With this 100 Who Give giveaway, Soroptimist International of Las Cruces will be able to present five more Live Your Dream Awards to deserving women in our region,” said Devall.
