Parish Priest (or Associate Rector) for Communication – Episcopal News Service
The Church of Holy Communion has made substantial investments in its communications ministry over the past ten years: our print publications are rich in content and visually stunning. Our social media presence on Facebook is active and organized. The live streaming technology that powers our worship services is professional-grade and operated by professionals. A new website and mobile app are in development and will be launched by Easter 2022.
We are looking for a Vicar (or Associate Rector) for Communications who will build on this foundation and take this important ministry to the next level. In addition to sharing the sacramental, pastoral and formative duties of a large parish, the Vicar (or Associate Rector) for Communication will tell the story of that congregation, which is the story of how the Holy Spirit moves in us and through us for the metamorphosis of the world.
Specifically, she or he will…
- …lead a growing team of communications professionals.
- …develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the parish that includes annual fundraising.
- … generate rich content for all our media channels.
The Pastor (or Associate Rector) for Communication reports directly to the Rector and works closely with him to articulate the message of Holy Communion and determine the best ways to communicate it. She will be supported in this ministry by an in-house graphic designer, a Sunday morning videographer, an off-site video editor and a volunteer photographer who also manages our Facebook presence.
At Holy Communion Church, all staff aim to approach their work with grace, good humor and an unwavering commitment to achieving excellence while maintaining good physical, spiritual and mental well-being.
The next Pastor (or Associate Rector) for Holy Communion Communication will be a highly relational individual with a go-getter personality, an innovative mindset, and a demonstrated ability to work well with a wide variety of people and perspectives. She or he will be an excellent copywriter and will have some experience in maintaining online platforms.
The Vicar (or Associate Rector) for Communications will be compensated competitively for our region and based on their qualifications. She or he will enjoy a generous amount of paid time off, individual health care with an additional HRA benefit, and CPG pension contributions. New clergy will also receive intentional mentorship from the rector, other clergy, and lay leaders within the congregation.
The appointment will be subject to the consent of the Bishop of West Tennessee, background checks and fingerprinting, as required by the state of Tennessee. Recurring training in child sexual abuse prevention, anti-racism, and clergy disciplinary procedures will also be required in accordance with the canons of The Episcopal Church.
The Church of the Holy Communion is part of the Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee. We share the experience of everyday life with St. Mary’s Episcopal School.
